Shoresy Season 2 Review
Caution: Spoilers
This season was an absolute masterpiece of chirping beauty, bud. The show takes everything we loved about season 1 and somehow makes it even better. We follow Shoresy - played brilliantly by Jared Keeso - and the Sudbury (Blueberry) Bulldogs as they move up to the NOSHO (Northern Ontario Senior Hockey Organization) league, where they face some real competition. Well, better competition.
We all show up for the signature rapid-fire chirps and hockey action, but we're getting a different side of the character Shoresy now than was presented in the Crave/Hulu hit, Letterkenny.
The way they weave in stories about northern Ontario's hockey culture and Indigenous communities feels authentic and meaningful. Or at least as Americans, we at least hope it is.
Mix in a batch of unreal hockey scene and foolish hijinks and you have a bonafide hit on your hands. What really works is balancing the show's trademark absurdist humor (Shoresy's still giving it to opposing players' moms) with genuinely touching moments about found family and belonging, all while improving the production quality.
The obsession with winning serves as the backbone of everything. We almost want to make the claim that the show runners have an obsession with winning when it comes to the soundtrack for a modern tv show. Excellent as always.
Give your balls a tug if you disagree, but this season might just be better than the first one, and that's no small feat.
